Rustic Wood Welcome Sign #oldpalletsforcrafting

Rustic Wood Welcome Sign £8.99

Whilst it is fair to say they papercrafting is my favourite craft, I do suffer from “I can do that” syndrome whilst scrolling through my Pinterest feed! These, however, meet with two of my favourite things - recycling and papercrafting. The timber I use generally comes from old pallets and I love the rustic finish that you get with old pallet wood. The papercraft part comes in to play when I add the background to the timber, before applying the words (also cut from paper) on to this. “Rustic” is the underlying them with these and they are specifically not meant to be cut perfectly. The background paper is torn rather than cut with the rough edges then inked. The hope is that it looks like an old bit of timber that was decorated previously and that I’ve just rescued it in this form! True to my recycling nature, I always try to use offcuts of paper left over from other projects rather that just using something straight out of the packet. It’s a great way of using up scraps. Each piece gets varnished for protection and a rustic rope attached for hanging it.
